Accessorizing at Age 2

We just tried to put Jack to bed, but as of late he's a bit 'opposed' to bedtime. It helps if one of us stays with him for a bit. We couldn't tonight.

So we leave his light on low and tell him he can read books. We know he'll wander around a bit, but he's pretty good about getting tired and falling asleep.

Tonight, as he occasionally does, he wanders into our bedroom and announces the "need to go potty." Kelly takes the duty.

Evidently he came in wearing his pajamas (the 'footed' kind). And his Crocs.

Where's the camera when you need it?

Simply Titled, "What the...?"

Looks like someone needs to burn off energy at the park.

Valentines' Day, and Potty Training, part...oh, whatever

I'll start with Valentines' Day. I'm not a huge believer in what I'd call a "manufactured" holiday. Let's face facts--it's a big marketing pitch by Hallmark, Teleflora, and the stuffed animal industry to convince you you're inadequate as a significant other unless you drop major coin on something that won't be remembered a week from now. But it's the thought that counts.
And Jack likes Valentines. So we traipsed off to Target to get valentines for Mommy. It was also an excuse to get him out of the house. Within 3 seconds of seeing the Valentines cards, he'd picked out the one he wanted to send. It had little to do with the actual message. He likes cows.

On the other hand, it does say a lot about me and my relationship with my wife that this is the card I got her. I can't actually open the card to show you the message.

Mind you, we capped it off by giving Mommy a big bag of Valentines-colored M&M's. It doesn't really compare to the awfully nice bouquet of flowers Kelly's dad sent to her [picture not included, as it clearly shames my bag of M&M's], but hey, it was Jack's idea. :)

With respect to potty training, we've regressed a bit. Jack surprised us all by having ZERO accidents on Wednesday! YAY!! HE CAME HOME WEARING THE SAME OUTFIT.

I walked into daycare on Thursday, and he had 1 accident. Standard. But for some reason, he had THREE accidents within an hour of getting home.

Friday--FOUR accidents at school, and another one at home. Sigh. Maybe he's over the novelty of it. Miss Julie (his teacher) said it happens...we 'think' kids are good to go after a zero-accident day, and we stop asking/reminding them to go potty.

Why kids are a joy.

Know how a 2 1/2 year-old can make his mommy smile?

Unprovoked, tell her "Have a good day, mommy!" as she's leaving for work.

Where did he learn this (and more potty episodes)

We went for an ultrasound this morning. Pictures to follow later. Everything is going okay with Grace. Kelly commented that she'll look exactly like Armin, which evidently means short, bald, and wrinkly.

Also turned into a good day to run some errands. Air temp is probably low-50's, but feels warmer. We saw some kids in shorts and halter tops...OKAY, not that warm.

Stopped by Wendy's for lunch...oooh, before that, Jack has been doing pretty well with potty training. He's now coming to us saying he needs to go, with the exception of "major business." He's gotten up the past two mornings and said he needed to pee very first thing. YAY!

So, at Wendy's--remember where I just said he doesn't notify us about major business? Unfortunately, we had to abandon a pair of Wall-e size 3 underpants. And we didn't have any storage bags for his pants, so we had to repurpose the bag from his Happy Meal.

Special surprise inside each bag, indeed.
