Walking Tall(er)

Jack continues to amaze...us. Okay, fine...we're first-time parents. Humor us.

Walking is now his almost exclusive means of transportation. I've actually used it to solve the "separation anxiety" he had for the first month when he went to daycare. I used to carry him in, then would have to set him down. Whining and crying ensued. Sure, it only lasted for 2-3 minutes after I left, but it's a bit heartbreaking.

So...now that he's walking, I hold his hand (really, he grips my pinky finger) and I walk him to the car.

Then we drive to daycare. I take him out and walk him in. Still needs a little help with the steps. But as soon as he hits the classroom, he's already on the floor. The first day I did it, he stood there for 3 seconds, and then he walked off to see his friends. Didn't even look back. I commented, "Well...have a good day."

Forgotten by your kid...that's just as heartbreaking.

Kelly got a good laugh today. The daycare center needed her to sign an "incident report." Jack was feeding a friend goldfish. And the kid bit his finger hard enough to leave marks. Is it improper to laugh? Because we both did.

Here's one of the latest. Took it on the first day Jack needed long pants.

The shortest distance between two points...

Sometimes parents wish they always had a camera in hand.

There's no way to describe this, and unfortunately, I didn't have the camera.

Jack, like many kids, is now fond of carrying sippy-cups around and drinking whenever he wants. We're a bit lucky, because for a while he wouldn't drink from them...evidently the plastic stopper didn't allow milk/water flow to his liking.

As much as he likes carrying the cups, he also enjoys dropping them. Anyway, here's my best depiction of the event in question. Jack has dropped his cup and wants to pick it up.

That's him in the foreground, and me observing to the left. His mother and I are going to work on the "turn around and pick it up" concept this weekend.
